Meet the coaches of COACH4tri

Mark Tickner and Michelle Colvin:

Mark Tickner has over 20 years coaching experience, and with his partner Michelle Colvin formed COACH4tri 7 years ago.  Our goal is to help you realise your goals and aspirations no matter what your level.
We have helped hundereds of athletes to first timers competing their first triathlon event comfortably, to the seasoned athlete racing for a medal at every World Championship event from the Sprint to the Ironman.
Mark and Michelle have worked full time since leaving school so realise what it takes to juggle a busy work, social and family life around training and racing. As such, we work with every client one to one online and in person to create custom, tailor made training programmes that truly fit around their own unique lifestyle.

Mark has been racing at a high competitive level since he was 12 years old and took up triathlon in 1991. Since then he has raced over 400 triathlon, duathlon, cycle, running and multi sport events.

Mark was the only athlete in the UK, and possibly the world, to qualify outright for the ITU age group World Olympic, Ironman 70.3 and Ironman World Championships in 2007 and raced to a handful of 1st place finishes along the way.

Mark was the fastest British finisher overall (including all professional athletes) at the Hawaii Ironman in 2004 and has qualified outright and competed at various World and European Championship events including:

World Ironman Championships in Kona, Hawaii (157th overall / 39th age group)
World Ironman 70.3 Championships in Clearwater, Florida (58th overall / 6th in age group)
2 x ITU World Long Course Championships, Nice, France
ETU Long Course Championships in Almere, Netherlands (16th overall / 5th age group)
World Olympic Distance Championships, Lausanne, Switzerland
4 x Olympic Distance World Championships (qualified for but not raced)

Mark has been coached for 8 years by three of the worlds most experienced and well known coaches (Chris Jones, Glenn Cook, Paul Huddle/Paula Newby Fraser), and these experiences have influenced how he coaches his clients and athletes. Mixing Joe Friels methology and Marks own unique training methods, this creates a powerful training formula!

Mark is the Technical Director / Head Coach for Amphibians 2 Triathlon Club (A2Tri Club) based in Horsham, West Sussex, where he coaches athletes from 15 - 80 years old. He designs and creates a fun, dynamic swimming programme fo all levls of triathletes and can do the same for your club too.

Mark is a Master Spinning Instructor. He teaches people to become qualified Spinning Instructors, and coaches exsisting instructors in furthering their qualifications and experience through continuing education (workshops, lectures, master classes, national and international fitness events).

Michelle became interested in triathlon after watching Mark race in triathlons and has since raced all distances.
Michelle completed her first Ironman in under 13hrs at the 2007 Switzerland Ironman and more recently at the 2008 Challenge Roth Ironman distance race in Germany in 12hr 19min 52sec (a 33min personal best!).

Since then, Michelle has now realised her ambition of also becoming a Master Instructor for the Spinning programme.
Mark and Michelle teach all over the world at the largest fitness events, and coach people to become qualified Spinning Instructors. They also tutor and lecture existing Spinning instructors in furthering their education by teaching continuing education courses.

Mark and Michelle both have a passion for skiing in the off season and regularly train at their French base in Haute Provence, French Alps, France.

Mark is sponsored by TRI-UK - the worlds largest triathlon store.

Company history

Coach4tri (formely known as TRUST4you) was formed through a passion for helping friends, family and a handful of clients get fitter and healthier. Since our very first client in 2001 we have relied on word of mouth advertising alone.

We have gone from strength to strength, and are in the process of hiring new coaches in different areas of expertise to help with our ever expanding client base, and help bring other areas into the business so that these are then passed onto our clients.

We have fitness tested over 600 clients to date and coached over 200 athletes in their quest to train and prepare for races all over the world.

Helping the complete novice prepare for their first ever sprint triathlon, or to help the elite athlete race a personal best at the ITU World Olympic, Middle and Long Distance Championships, and qualify and finish the Ironman World Championships in Hawaii are just some of our highlights.

Our Future

In November 2008 coach Mark Tickner became a Master Coach for TrainingBible Coaching UK.

As a successful and growing business we wanted to expand and be involved in an exciting, world reknowned coaching brand that was starting up in the UK.

Through hard work, our determination to succeed, and through our ever increasing thirst for knowledge, this will help us expand our services to provide a cutting edge, unrivalled level of quality that enhances our clients experiance with TrainingBible Coaching UK.

We are looking to expand our training camps and have a training base set up in the Southern French Alps, so that we can provide facilities for athletes to enjoy year round in unrivalled areas of outstanding natural beauty for swimming, cycling and running at an affordable cost for all.

Above all, we will continue to help people realise their goals, aspirations and athletic endevours by providing full time coaching services.
